I swear I read on here years ago that there was an old scifi novel/series that starred, like, a ship with some colonists on it or something, in deep space, and there was a race or something that looked like the safeguard, and one of the ship's crew was named Killy. Did I hallucinate that? Anyone know what I'm talking about? Thanks.

Found it!

Here's the old forum topic: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=62

The book in question was Great Sky River, starring Killeen and Shibo, and allegedly referenced in the BLAME artbook as being a legit inspiration. Killeen and son (and some other members of The Family) travel the wastes of distant planet Snowglade trying to avoid the "Mechs", robotic monstrosities tjat are trying to hunt down all remaining human life on the planet. Killeen has the abilty to undrstand some of the mech language, due to some ancient cyberpunky connections.
